On Saturday, 29th November, a Working Bee will take place at the community hall from 9:00am to 12:00 noon.
The objective will be to clean and tidy up all the areas around the church and community hall in preparation for the Festive Season activities.
We would need as many people as possible to participate in this activity.
Please bring any gardening tools you may want to use for weeding, planting etc.

The classes will be limited to a number of 15.
The tickets cost $15 per lesson, which includes complimentary glass of wine or juice on arrival, meze to nibble on and a copy of the recipes of the day.
All the recipes will be videotaped and we are planning to give a DVD copy of the lessons to all the attendees.

The Auckland Classical Association presents a talk by Associate Professor Anne Mackay on Tuesday, 4 November 2008, 7.30 pm at the Old Government House, Federation of Graduate Women’s rooms.
Associate Professor Anne Mackay: “A Real Labyrinth: Bronze Age Archaeological Sites in Crete .” The Aegean bronze age is often regarded as the time when many Greek myths were born, and it has been suggested that the labyrinthine structures of Minoan palaces might have been the foundation of the story of how Theseus of Athens overcame the Minotaur in Knossos . Associate Professor Anne Mackay spent some time while on study leave photographing a number of bronze age sites in Crete, and her illustrated talk will take the form of a guided tour around some of the more interesting bronze age sites that were occupied in the second millennium BC, includingwell-known places like Knossos and Phaistos, but also some of the smaller, more out-of-the-way locations.
The President of the Association Mr. Gregory J. Thwaite, extends an invitation to all the members of the Hellenic Community of Auckland, to this event.

Το καθιερωμένο ετήσιο ‘πίγκνικ’ της κοινότητας έχει διοργανωθεί για την Κυριακή 8 Φεβρουαρίου, στο Long Bay.Περισσότερες πληροφορίες θα δημοσιευτούν στο επόμενο ενημερωτικό δελτάριο της κοινότητας.
The community summer picnic has been organised for Sunday, 8th February 2009, at Long Bay. More details will be published in the next community newsletter.

Το καθιερωμένο Χριστουγεννιάτικο πάρτι της κοινότητας μας για το 2008 θα λάβει χώρα την Κυριακή 7 Δεκεμβρίου, από τις 12:00 το μεσημέρι.
Θα σερβιριστεί το παραδοσιακό χριστουγεννιάτικο ‘ζαμπόν’ και άλλα φαγητά και γλυκά. Επίσης ο Άγιος Βασίλης θα επισκεφτεί και θα μοιράσει χριστουγεννιάτικα δώρα στα παιδιά.
Θα είναι αναγκαίο να ενημερώσετε την οργανωτική επιτροπή με τον αριθμό και τις ηλικίες των παιδιών που θα παρευρεθούν.

This year, the Community Xmas Party will take place at the Community Hall on Sunday, 7th December from12:00 noon.
There will be a buffet with the traditional Xmas Ham and other festive season foods and desserts.
Santa will be making an early appearance for the children.
It will be necessary to inform the organising committee of the number and ages of the children who will be attending.

Ο εορτασμός της Επετείου της 28ης Οκτωβρίου θα λάβει χώρα το Σάββατο 1η Νοεμβρίου στο χολ της Ελληνικής Κοινότητας του Ώκλαντ. Η βραδιά θα αρχίσει στις 7:00 μ.μ. και θα συνεχιστεί μέχρι τα μεσάνυχτα.

The Celebration of “OXI” Day this year will take place at the Greek Community Hall, on Saturday, 1st November from 7:00pm.
